The Tiddly Cove Yacht club has been around for a long time–over 50 years. For all that time (until this year) they used paper membership cards, originally hand written and signed by the Commodore, replaced every year. This was a lot of labor by the executive and expense for the club. Two years ago they changed to printed and laminated cards which look more professional but were even more work to produce.
This year, they switched to our Virtual membership card. Their custom webapp is located at tcyc.club-cards.com.
The user logs on once with the same email and password they use at the club website. The app remembers the logon, so next time they just click on the icon and the card appears. The information show is direct from the clubs membership system and updates in real time. That means a member’s status is always up do date, including suspended on inactive memberships.
A Club with a 100 or so members could be expected to spend $300 or more on membership cards, assuming free labor. The virtual card costs just $100 annually, with a $50 setup fee.
When the app was demonstrated to the TCYC executive, they voted unanimously in favor of immediate operation.
